Rotate & Flip

Native ROTATE and MIRROR treat a multi-object selection as one group turning about a shared base point. Rotate & Flip transforms every object where it sits (around its own insertion point, or its centre) with no base point to pick and no mirror line to draw.

Overview

What it does

  • Rotate 90° clockwise or counterclockwise; repeat to compound
  • Flip horizontally or vertically, every object around its own pivot
  • Attribute text stays upright and its justification swaps to the flipped side
  • Dynamic blocks turn and flip through their own authored parameter

Run every command from the Rotate/Flip panel on the shared MD Plugins ribbon tab, from the right-click menu, or by typing it, with AutoCAD's own autocomplete icons.

In detail

How it earns its place.

One-click rotation, no base point

MDROTATECW and MDROTATECCW turn each selected object 90° about its own pivot: the insertion point for a block, the geometric centre for everything else. Runs compound, so four presses return to where you started. The angle is configurable.

A flip that doesn’t leave cleanup behind

Native MIRROR either renders attribute text backwards, or keeps it readable but strands it left-justified on what is now the wrong side. MDFLIPH mirrors the block, keeps the tag upright, and swaps its justification (Left to Right on a horizontal flip, Top to Bottom on a vertical one) in one command.

Dynamic blocks keep their own definition

If a block carries a rotation action, or a flip parameter renamed with an MDFlipH or MDFlipV token, the command drives that parameter instead of moving geometry underneath it. An action normally reachable only through a custom grip becomes something you can type.

Installing

Install it in a minute

  1. 01

    Close AutoCAD, run the installer

Its files are locked while AutoCAD is open, so close it first.
