Plugin 05 · Essentials
Increment
Select what needs numbering, then set the counter, what goes around it, and the order to sweep in. Every change is listed before anything is written: current value beside new value, including the ones that will be left alone and why. Apply writes the run as a single undo step.

Overview
What it does
- Numbers text, mtext, block attributes and mleaders in the same run
- See every change before it happens, then undo the whole run with one Ctrl+Z
- Sweep in reading order from any corner, or along a path you draw
- Pick which attribute tag to write when your blocks carry several
Run every command from the Number panel on the shared MD Plugins ribbon tab, from the right-click menu, or by typing it, with AutoCAD's own autocomplete icons.
In detail
How it earns its place.
The preview is the point
A numbering tool that writes first and asks later is one bad selection away from a drawing you have to reconstruct. Every target is listed with its current value beside the new one before you commit, objects that cannot be written safely stay in the list greyed with the reason, and the whole run lands in one undo record, so a single Ctrl+Z puts the drawing back, not forty of them.
Order the way you read, or the way you walk
Four sweeps (across then down, across then up, down then across, up then across) with a small diagram beside the picker so the direction reads without decoding it. Rows are worked out from the objects themselves rather than a tolerance you have to guess. When no pattern fits, draw a path through the drawing and the numbering follows it.
Fields and formatting are left alone
An attribute driven by a field, or mtext carrying inline formatting, cannot be rewritten as plain text without destroying what is in it. Those are reported and skipped rather than silently overwritten, and they still appear in the preview, so a run that touches fewer objects than you expected always says so.
